Notice 01/2020 - Compliance Action - $20,000 fine issued to EC Focus Pty Ltd

IPART has taken action in relation to an accredited certificate provider (ACP), EC Focus Pty Ltd (EC Focus), for the improper creation of energy savings certificates (ESCs) under the Energy Savings Scheme (ESS). EC Focus was issued, and has paid, a monetary penalty of $20,000 for an offence against section 133 of the Electricity Supply Act 1995 (ES Act). Notice 01/2020 provides information about the offence that arose from a failure by EC Focus to be properly nominated as at the Implementation Date of a particular implementation, as is required under clause 6.2(a) of the Energy Savings Scheme Rule of 2009 (ESS Rule).
