NSW DCCEEW has released a new PDRS Rule, set to take effect from 1 July 2025. The updated rule introduces significant changes to battery-related activities under the scheme.

Under the new rule:

  • Installing a new behind-the-meter battery energy storage system (BESS1) will be suspended.
  • Onboarding a behind-the-meter battery with a Demand Response Aggregator (BESS2) will see increased incentives and revised participation requirements.

To help stakeholders understand and comply with the changes, IPART has published a Quick Reference Guide and updated the PDRS Method Guide. Additional resources, including updated webpages and documents, will be released shortly.
