Creating certificates

This page outlines how ACPs can register the creation of certificates.

Before registering certificates

Before you register, check the following:

  • the number of certificates that you intend to register is within:
    • the current cumulative certificate limit for your accreditation, or
    • your volumetric audit limit.

  • you have completed a pre-registration audit if required

  • you have the required records

  • you have met any other relevant requirements (for example, you have installed accepted products and appliances)

  • you have completed quality assurance checks and internal audits (for example, for all data and records and implementations).
You could face serious penalties if:
  • you create a certificate improperly
  • certificates don’t meet the conditions of your accreditation.

Certificate registration fee

You must pay a fee to register certificates. We adjust the fee each year based on the Consumer Price Index.
See Costs of being an ACP for current registration fees.

Allowable limits

You cannot apply to register more certificates than any limit set in your Accreditation Notice. Log in to TESSA to see your certificate creation limit and the number of certificates you have already registered.

  1. Select ‘My Accreditations’ on the TESSA homepage
  2. Select ‘View all’ under the ‘My Volumetric Limits’ table.

Registering certificates

You register certificates in TESSA, our online system. There are three steps to registering certificates:

  1. Prepare implementation data in csv file format.

Check the CSV Specification Guide for fields to include in your upload. Use the ESS Examples template and PDRS Examples template to learn how to format your data.

See our Uploading implementation data to TESSA page. Make sure you are using the correct version.

Only upload implementations from one accreditation at a time. Each upload can also only cover one base vintage.

  2. Upload the implementation data to TESSA.

TESSA allows a maximum of 3000 implementations per upload.

TESSA will validate the data and generate an error list. You must correct these errors before you move to the next stage. Once complete, TESSA will generate an invoice for payment.

  3. Pay the certificate registration fee.

You will be redirected to the TESSA payment portal. You can pay online with credit card, PayPal or PayID. There are no merchant fees. Certificates are registered immediately.

Registration errors

Sometimes ACPs register certificates incorrectly. If you register certificates incorrectly you must pay the registration fee, then forfeit the certificates. You can then re-register the certificates correctly. You will need to pay the registration fee again.

After registering certificates

You can view registered certificates in the My Certificates section of your TESSA account. They also appear in the public Registry of Certificates on the TESSA homepage.
