Summary
The Peak Demand Reduction Scheme Rule (PDRS Rule) and Energy Savings Scheme Rule (ESS Rule) were updated on 1 July 2026. Major updates include:
- changes to existing PDRS and ESS air conditioning activities and PDRS battery activity BESS1 that apply from 1 July 2026
- 3 new battery activities that will commence on 1 September 2026.
We are seeking feedback from ACPs, auditors and other interested stakeholders by 22 July 2026 on proposed:
- substantive changes to evidence requirements for existing ESS and PDRS activities
- evidence requirements for new PDRS activities BESS3, BESS4 and BESS5
- changes to PDRS Method Guide requirements.
