Applying for product acceptance
This information is for manufacturers, ACPs and other product applicants. It details how to apply for lighting acceptance. This is for products like LEDs and induction lamps.
If accepted, we add your product to our public list. This means you can install it to get energy savings and create certificates.
You can apply in TESSA, our online system. You will need to submit several documents. Evidence requirements are in the Applying for Product Acceptance Guide . Requirements vary based on the method and application pathway. See Section 2 and the appendices for details.
It is important to name all the documents clearly. The document categories in TESSA show document types to upload.
You can apply for multiple products and calculation methods in one application. Do not submit more than 10 products in one application.
See the video below for more information on how to apply.
Lamp Circuit Power
This section has technical details on Lamp Circuit Power (LCP). This information may help with your application.
LCPs at rated power
You must determine Lamp Circuit Power (LCP) at a product’s rated wattage. Lower wattage settings for switchable products are not allowed. See Notice 05/2020.
If the LCP is determined at the rated power, then you can use products with:
- dimming capability
- multiple wattage setting
- drivers with adjustable power or current output.
For more details on what this means for your product, please see our information paper.
Nominal Lamp Power / Baseline LCP
For commercial lighting upgrades, ACPs must evidence lamp types and Nominal Lamp Power (NLP) for both the old and new lighting systems. To calculate your baseline energy savings before the lighting is installed, ACPs can use the already accepted LCP value on our list.
If the lamp you wish to replace is not on our public list, then you can apply for acceptance of a baseline LCP/NLP through TESSA.
Submit a TESSA enquiry with the brand, model and value you wish to apply for and attach the supporting documents.
For evidence requirements, see Section 4.2.2 of the Commercial Lighting - Evidence Manual.
Duplicates cannot be submitted
You cannot apply for duplicate models in TESSA. The system will automatically reject your application.
We do not process products that are already accepted. However, if your product requires acceptance across different calculation methods, please contact our team to discuss the next steps.
Please note that there are different requirements and values to submit for HEER and IHEAB calculation methods. These cannot be submitted jointly.
