Lighting product acceptance for some methods has changed.

IPART will no longer accept lighting product applications for MBM and PIAM&V and Public Lighting methods.

What’s the change?

PIAM&V, MBM and Public Lighting

From 12 September 2025, PIAM&V, MBM and Public Lighting no longer require product acceptance. This is due to the recent ESS Rule change

The following lighting equipment can be used:

  • Any standard lighting equipment classes listed in Table A9.1 of the ESS Rule, or
  • Other equipment classes listed in Table A9.3 of the ESS Rule provided it meets additional safety or performance requirements set by the Scheme Administrator.

The additional safety or performance requirements for the "other equipment classes" are published in the relevant method guides (see Related documents below).

We will continue to maintain our current list of approved lighting equipment. If your product is on the Accepted Products list, it will have already met the safety or performance requirements published by the Scheme Administrator. You can use this equipment without the need for more equipment related evidence.

Compliance with the above requirements will be checked at audit.

Commercial Lighting

Commercial Lighting product acceptance applications will not be accepted after 31 January 2026. We will process applications received prior to this date up until the Commercial Lighting method ends on 31 March 2026

Please make sure you apply well before this date. It can take several weeks to process an application, so don’t leave it to the last minute as your product may not make it on to the list.

HEER Lighting

Product acceptance for lighting products for the HEER method will not change. Follow the normal procedure to apply to have your lighting product accepted. See our Lighting page for more details.

What you need to do

For lighting products for MBM, PIAM&V and Public Lighting methods that are not yet on the Accepted Product list:

  • Manufacturers will need to provide relevant documentation to ACPs instead of applying for acceptance.
  • ACPs must retain documentation that shows the lighting equipment requirements have been met for each activity you implement – this documentation can be obtained from your suppliers.
