Template TRNSYS files
These templates must be used by applicants in modelling water heater performance.
The template files:
- incorporate the required structure and inputs for modelling in line with the relevant standards
- support consistency across applications, making it easier for applicants to prepare submissions and for IPART to assess them.
Applicants should use these templates to develop their TRNSYS model for each water heater product being submitted, ensuring that all product-specific inputs, parameters and assumptions are correctly applied.
Setting up your computer to use TRNSYS files
We recommend that all applicants place the include and weather files in the same directory as follows:
c:\TRNSYS15\Include&weather\......
This will allow the TRNSYS simulation to run on any computer that is used to open the decks and assist with smooth application processing.
Standards Australia AS/NZS4234 update in 2026
An amendment to AS/NZS 4234: 2021 was published by Standards Australia on 26 June 2026. The new template TRNAUS decks are now available (version 26.2). As previously advised we are allowing a transition period as follows:
- all modelling performed after 22 September 2026 will need to use these new template decks
- any applications submitted on or after 1 November 2026 must utilise version 26.2 of TRNAUS.
Applications that do not align with the updated standard and templates may require further information or may be refused for product acceptance.
