30 June deadline to create ESCs
To create an ESC from energy savings in a calendar year, you must apply for registration by 30 June of the next year. Check the relevant method guide to confirm when the energy savings occurred.
Apply for registration using TESSA.
If you require audit services, plan ahead to ensure you meet the 30 June deadline. Demand for these services can be high in May and June. This applies if:
- your application is subject to a pre-registration audit
- you require an audit limit reset to register further ESCs.
Be sure to prepare for the audit. Auditor estimates rely on complete evidence packs and adequate audit resources. If your application is cancelled due to an audit, you cannot reapply after 30 June.
We recommend online payments for a faster registration. However, an offline payment after 30 June will not prevent a successful application.
The 30 June deadline is a statutory deadline under clause 34(1)(b) of Schedule 4A to the Electricity Supply Act 1995. The Scheme Administrator has no discretion to extend or waive this deadline.
