Removal of Old Appliances
About this method
The Removal of Old Appliances (RoOA) method is a calculation method under the ESS. It sets out how to calculate electricity savings from removing old, or spare, refrigerators and freezers from homes or offices.
The old or spare equipment must have a capacity greater than 200L. The installer must also dispose it in an appropriate manner. An ACP needs to demonstrate this when creating ESCs under this method.
Schedule A to the ESS Rule outlines the Default Factors and Classifications for equipment. The applicable Savings Factor used in calculating certificates is based on the type of disposed fridge or freezer and the original use category:
- destruction of a spare refrigerator or freezer in working order and regular use
- destruction of a primary refrigerator or freezer and replacement with a high efficiency equivalent.
