Sale of New Appliances
About this method
The Sale of New Appliances method is a calculation method under the ESS. It provides a way to calculate electricity savings from the sale of household appliances that use less electricity than the average appliance of the same type. Appliances include:
- clothes washing machines
- clothes dryers
- dishwashers
- refrigerators
- chest freezers or upright freezers
- televisions.
This method gives appliance retailers an incentive to market and sell higher efficiency appliances. Consumers benefit from ongoing electricity savings.
Note: The Sale of New Appliances method will end on 30 November 2025. Accreditation applications will not be accepted from 12 September 2025. Implementations and certificate registrations under the method are not allowed from 1 December 2025.
